Chanting In Roots Reggae
Welcome to the finest of the UK Roots Music experience of the one hailed as "the dark man of Reggae". Don earned the name for his noticeable absence from the Nucleus Roots set while they toured Europe.
"Where is the artist who sing RUN COME QUICK?" they would ask. However, the sad truth was that Mr Hartley could not travel because of immigration problems he was having at the time.
Hailing originally from Kingston, Jamaica but now residing in Manchester UK, the man Don Hartley a.k.a. Reggae Chanter is singer and songwriter extraordinaire, responsible for other massive roots reggae anthems like DEEP ROOTS and IRIE MEDITATION
After all the setbacks and also a deliberate break from the scene to search his soul and strengthen his spiritual roots, the Reggae Chanter has relaunched his career with renewed zeal.
"...Started recording late eighties in Jamaica. 1990 moved to London UK but it was in Manchester city where I met Dub Dadda and Nucleus Roots. Together we did some cracking dub anthems such as Deep Roots, Run Come Quick, Irie Meditation, Step It Up Rasta, and more, but now I'm working with some new people to keep the vibes flowing"
